We would like to begin by thanking all your parents for their support with learning during the lockdown. Although some year groups may soon be returning to school, it may be some time before life returns to normal. Therefore we will continue to give suggestions for learning at home; we really do appreciate that it is not always easy! If you would like to adapt our ideas, please go ahead. We have enjoyed hearing about the additional activities you have been planning – just keep learning! We are here to help if you have any queries or need some additional support: please get in touch with school.
This week for your topic work we would like you to become historians.
Choose a topic which interests you, e.g. the history of chocolate, transport through the ages, space travel…
Research how it has changed over time
Present your work (writing, timelines, IT…)
The important thing to think about is how your topic has evolved and, if you would like an extra challenge, how has it influenced society? e.g. railways made the growth of the seaside towns possible.
There are some resources below which might give you some ideas, and on DK Find out there is a fabulous collection of information about fashion and another on spies which some of you might like to explore.
Beautiful illustrations and design work will form part of this work.
For English we would like you to read J.K.Rowling’s newly published novel, The Ickabog. A chapter is published each day on the website, and there are some amazing competitions attached to the book. We hope you enjoy your reading! The link for the website is below.
We have set some work for maths on MyMaths. You also have some extra challenges below, and there are some strategy games to play. Also remember to keep playing TT Rock Stars so that you become a magnificent multiplier!
Happy learning everyone! We hope you are all keeping safe and well.
Best wishes from Mrs. Mann and Mr. Youdale
