Hello Woodies, we can't believe we are starting Term 6! We look forward to seeing some of you back in school from the 8th June, but if you are continuing your learning at home keep checking the school web site. We would like to thank parents for your support so far with the children's home learning and we have been very impressed with some of the work we have seen.
We have organised this week's work into a suggested timetable again, which you can find below. Remember these are only suggestions and you do not need to print them all as many can be done from a screen.
This term our topic work will be based around stories, including traditional tales. This week we are looking at The Gingerbread Man and we have made some suggestions on the timetable. In addition to these here are some other suggestions:
Maybe you have some other ideas!
This week we will continue learning about money. Try to do this with real money so the children get used to handling coins. The suggested activities are all on the timetable and the documents below. Keep working on Numbots and we will keep an eye on the children's progress and send out certificates.
Spelling, reading, phonics and grammar
This term we will continue to give a set of spellings for each year group which children should practice throughout the week. There will be other activities including grammar work for the year 2s and phonics for the year 1s. There are a lot of documents below, but please refer to the timetable to select the right documents for your child's year group.
Common Exception Words
These are words that do not follow common phonetic spelling rules, many of them are used frequently and children are expected to read and spell them. They can be tricky to teach and difficult for children to pick up but it helps if they see them as often as possible. This term we are attaching a slide show of the year 1 and year 2 words to use how you wish. Children could go through the whole slide show a few times a week and see if they get quicker at recognising the words, or maybe select a few words at a time to concentrate on.
Have a good week, remember to send us any work you are proud of. We look forward to seeing some of you soon.
Take care, have fun and enjoy the sunshine.
